Provide same day and continuity nursing care as part of the health care team at MSU Student Health Services. SHS is housed in the new Student Wellness Center, a new facility that is home to Student Health Services, Counseling & Psychological Services, and Campus Recreation. The facility enhances the integrated and holistic model of student health and wellness at MSU.


Duties and Responsibilities
Facilitate patient appointments with medical providers by performing initial patient intake and assessing presenting problems followingSHSprotocol.*
Utilizes mature nursing judgement when working withinEMRincluding: messaging, accurate review of labs, orders, provider notes and history documentation*
Communicates effectively viaEMR, patient portal, telephone calls and face to face dialogue with patients and outside providers related to medical issues*
Assist medical provider with minor procedures, wound management, contraceptive method implementation*
Implement nursing interventions and tasks such as administering immunizations and medication injections, suture/staple removal, administering ear lavage, 12 leadEKGapplication, orthopedic device fitting, performing vision/hearing screenings, etc.*
Provide patient education for health promotion and maintenance*
Perform triage nursing assessment during increased patient volume*
During times of staff shortage, must be willing to fill in as assigned in continuity care or same day care*


Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

1. Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing


2. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Montana.


3. Recent professional nursing experience in a primary care setting such as primary care medical offices, emergency medical facilities, urgent care centers, student health services, or public health departments.


4. Demonstrated experience with using diagnostic equipment such as EKG and spirometry (list equipment).


5. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.


Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

1. Experience working in both primary care and urgent care settings.
