Referral Coordinator (Bilingual)

The Referral Coordinator serves as a liaison between the providers, patients and specialists. This role is responsible for building relationships with our patients making sure they receive high-quality service through all their referrals.

• Answer all telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
  
• Establish, retain, and grow strong relationships with customers providing a high-quality service.
  
• Obtain referrals for patients and specialists. Prioritize referrals according to level of urgency.
  
• Respond to all calls and messages by the end of the day.
  
• Document every interaction with patients in EMR. Ensure complete and accurate registration, including patient demographic, and current insurance information.
  
• Obtain specialists reports pertaining to a request for referral. Follow up on any specialty/provider that has not sent the reports.
  
• Forward medical records to the referral physician when requested.
  
• Obtain insurance authorization. Serve as liaison between the insurance company and the patient.
  
• Transmit referrals to the specialists with appropriate documentation.
  
• Follow up on any pending authorizations. Refer to prior notes saved on the file.
  
• Always maintain a professional demeanor with patients and medical staff.
  
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  

• High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent Experience
  
• Strong computer skills. Experience with EMR systems is a plus
  
• Previous experience working in a medical office
  
• 1-2 years of insurance authorization experience preferred
  
• Experience with Medicare HMO is a plus
  
• Experience with ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes preferred
  
• Good listening and oral communication skills
  
• Strong attention to detail
