Position Summary:


Our Quality Assurance Inspectors are responsible for performing inspections, audits of purchased parts, units, materials, equipment, panel/module level assemblies and quality control programs to specifications. Interprets manufacturing drawings, diagrams, specifications and lists to approve or reject units. Maintains support documentation and reviews performance data.


Ensures in-process and finished products meet company and customer requirements. Determines or assists in determining methods and procedures necessary for inspection. Validates products and documentation for compliance to all applicable requirements and prepares items for presentation to the customer for acceptance and delivery.


Inspectors also perform First Article Inspections and Finished Goods Testing. The inspector must possess good communication abilities, be flexible and able to lift up to 30 lbs.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Responsible for the incoming material inspections of products and raw materials including metals and sub tier vendor products.
  • Inspects various metal products at various stages of the manufacturing process, and tests products for a variety of qualities such as dimensions and Leak tests.
  • Proficient with Red Dye and Florescent Penetrant Testing (will train if needed).
  • Interfaces with Manufacturing, Quality and Process Engineering Staff as needed on the interpretation of Customer and Internal Engineering drawings, specifications, and standards.
  • Able to use simple hand tools and basic measurement equipment such as digital calipers, micrometers. Depth gauges etc.
  • Act as an internal auditor responsible in the implementation and conformance to Quality standards of AS9100 and IATF as well as ISO 14001 and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Will assist manufacturing if required to produce products that meet or exceed customer expectations.


· Control of non-conforming product and maintenance of accurate records.


  • Be able to use or be trained on forklift and or pallet jack equipment.


· May perform other duties as assigned, including work in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise to balance the workload.

· High School Diploma or equivalent with 8+years of prior related experience in a quality-related discipline, or 2 years post-secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.


· 3+ years hands on experience using gages such as microscopes, calipers, height gages, scales, and other equipment as needed.


· Experience in metal working, welding, forming, cutting, finishing preferred.


· Ability to use measuring equipment, microscopes, calipers, micrometers height gages, scales, and VT visual inspection techniques.


· Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to interface across the organization to achieve effective results


· Experience working in a team environment to solve problems and balance workloads


· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only a limited amount of information and/or standardization exists.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, high-pressure and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and risk of radiation.


· Employee will occasionally deal with chemical solutions for conducting penetrant testing on products.


· Safety glasses will be required while in the production areas, and safety shoes will be required when performing work in a production cell.
