Purchasing Associate

This position is responsible for processing and placing purchase orders, ensuring that the company maintains proper inventory levels. This position has responsibility for approximately 30 vendors.

• Maintain current on purchase orders and ETA information
  
• Timely e-mail communication with suppliers, distributors, and sales managers
  
• Daily receiving purchase orders
  
• Manage shortage and damage claims
  
• Monitor import orders, paper flow, etc.
  
• Expedite inbound freight as required
  
• Arrange weekly transfers from corporate office in Norton, MA
  
• Follow-up with fill-in inventory from CT and MA distributors as directed
  
• Arrange for outside carrier pickup as necessary
  
• Follow-up with overdue supplier transfer invoices
  
• Assist with warehouse receiving as needed
  
• Participate in physical inventories, which include 2 full inventories annually, and January and July interim inventories conducted during regular Friday workdays
  
• Other duties as required.
  

• Associated Degree in Business, Accounting or related education and training and/or work experience
  
• 3+ years� work-related experience preferred
  
• Experience operating warehouse machinery (order picker for inventory purpose)
  

• Strong organizational skills
  
• Strong attention to quality and detail
  
• Ability to analyze data and make decisions to implement purchase ordering that aligns with company objectives
  
• Must possess a high caliber of self-motivation
  
• Able to work within a time sensitive deadline environment
  
• Ability to build cooperative working relationships with all external and internal contacts
  
• Professional written and verbal skills
  
• Strong ability in basic math
  
• Prior experience in the wine and spirits industry a plus
  
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel
