Required Degree:


Master’s degree in business communication or related field required; PhD preferred


The required degree must be completed by the start date.


Experience: Candidates with experience teaching collegiate-level courses relevant to the business communication are preferred, but those with extensive industry experience and high aptitude for teaching communications will also be considered.


  • Proven track record of student-centered teaching that emphasizes active learning , skill development , and practical application rather than lecture-based instruction
  • Expertise in

+ Teaching

business writing with a focus on clarity and professionalism

+ Applying

grammar, document design, organization, and logic in business contexts

+ Leveraging

generative AI tools to enhance written communication skills

+ Guiding students through the

writing process as a structured pedagogical approach


Duties/Expectations:


Faculty member will maintain an exclusive, dedicated focus on MCom 320, teaching eight sections per calendar year. Courses may be scheduled to occur in fall, winter, spring, or summer.


The faculty must focus exclusively on MCom 320; the faculty may not teach any course outside of MCom 320.


The faculty will support the MCom director in the following ways:


  • Recruit and train qualified adjunct faculty
  • Foster collaboration and support among adjunct faculty to enrich course content
  • Engage in peer review with other MCom 320 instructors
  • Collaborate with the MCom director to provide faculty improvement and engagement training
  • Demonstrate excellence in teaching using active, experiential, student-centered learning techniques
  • Adhere to the prescribed MCom 320 curriculum while aligning all instruction with the vision and mission of the BYU Marriott School and the Mission and Aims of a BYU Education.
  • Collaborate with MCom faculty group to enhance curriculum, develop instructional materials, and assess learning outcomes.
