The Montana Area Health Education Center (AHEC) and Office of Rural Health (MORH) are dedicated to enhancing healthcare access for rural Montanans by increasing the supply and distribution of healthcare professionals through strategic academic and community partnerships.


Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead the coordination of all AmeriCorps program operations, including member recruitment and onboarding, host site engagement, compliance monitoring, and performance tracking to ensure alignment with program goals and AmeriCorps regulations.
  • Support MORH/AHEC in achieving AmeriCorps program goals by organizing and facilitating AmeriCorps-specific trainings, orientations, and engagement opportunities in both virtual and in-person formats.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of AmeriCorps program requirements, timelines, and performance measures, and ensure timely collection, validation, and reporting of all required data in alignment with MORH/AHEC and CNCS guidelines.
  • Communicate regularly with AmeriCorps members, host sites, and community partners, ensuring clear dissemination of program updates, expectations, and resources statewide.
  • Participate in required AmeriCorps trainings and national service conferences, and incorporate lessons learned into program operations and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Assist the Director in implementing strategic projects related to AmeriCorps programming, including evaluation, member development, and interagency collaboration.
  • Research future funding and partnership opportunities to support and expand AmeriCorps programming and assist in writing grant applications and reports.
  • Contribute AmeriCorps-related content for MORH/AHEC web platforms, ensuring accurate and up-to-date program information for members and stakeholders.
  • Develop program reports, member success stories, and presentations highlighting the impact of AmeriCorps service in rural health, and support data-informed decision-making and storytelling.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to AmeriCorps members, fostering a supportive environment that encourages their professional and personal growth throughout their service term.


Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor degree in Health-related field, Public Administration, Social/Behavior Science or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.*
  • At least one year experience planning, developing, or managing an AmeriCorps program.


  • Demonstrated experience in recruiting AmeriCorps members, including developing outreach strategies, screening candidates for eligibility, and understanding the requirements of national service participants.


  • Experience in healthcare, public health, statistics/data management, higher education and community organization.


  • Demonstrated experience with data collection and preparing reports.


  • Experience in project management, large meeting facilitation, strategic planning, resolution-focused implementation planning, and developing/maintaining community relationships.


Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Previous experience as an AmeriCorps member or site supervisor, with a strong understanding of national service.


  • Familiarity with CNCS and AmeriCorps compliance requirements, including member service agreements, timekeeping, and performance measure reporting.


  • Experience using AmeriCorps-specific platformsfor member management and reporting.


  • Demonstrated experience building relationships with community partners.


  • Demonstrated experience with virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Webex).


  • Demonstrated experience with skill in writing, written & oral reports.


  • Demonstrated experience working with rural and American Indian communities.


  • Demonstrated experience with federal grants management, including compliance, monitoring, and reporting.


The Successful Candidate Will
  • Have a strong working knowledge of project requirements and timelines for programs, assuring data required for grant reporting is collected in line with MORH/AHEC guidelines.
  • Communicate clearly/disseminate information with healthcare partners located across the state.
  • Be highly organized with great attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate excellent, professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relations with coworkers in a team-oriented environment.
