Program Manager

Background

Organization overview

504HealthNet is a nonprofit, community-based coalition committed to improving access to primary care and behavioral health services for all residents in the Greater New Orleans (GNO) region, regardless of ability to pay. We are a member association comprised of 25 community health organizations that represent the safety net for low-income, uninsured, and underinsured residents. 504HealthNet’s mission is to improve health care access by supporting this coordinated network of healthcare providers. We do this by providing advocacy services, conducting and participating in community outreach activities, and offering training and quality improvement programs for members. Together, we increase health care access for all New Orleanians.

Healthy Hospitality Initiative

Healthy Hospitality is an initiative that connects uninsured workers to health providers, health insurance coverage, health education, and referrals to resources that address social determinants of health such as food, childcare, housing, and utilities assistance.

Skin health is a vital but often overlooked aspect of well-being, especially in underserved communities with limited dermatological care and education. New Orleans’ hospitality workforce represents over twelve percent (12%) of the city’s workforce and are largely uninsured, underinsured, or disconnected from preventive care. Skin health has been identified as an important, but, so far, unaddressed health concern for these workers, especially as many hospitality roles involve exposure to irritants, such as cleaning products, that increase the risk of skin conditions.

With sponsorship from Eli Lilly & Co (Lilly) and support from 504HealthNet Partners, including the New Orleans Health Department and New Orleans Healthcare for the Homeless Clinic, the Healthy Hospitality Initiative offers an opportunity to fill that gap and expand 504HealthNet’s services while maintaining direct outreach to the community and supporting existing networks of care.
