About the Role:


The Production Control Manager plays a critical role in overseeing and optimizing the entire production control process within a manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for ensuring that production schedules are efficiently planned and executed to meet customer demands while maintaining high standards of quality and cost-effectiveness. The manager will coordinate material flow and inventory control to minimize delays and maximize operational efficiency. They will also collaborate closely with manufacturing engineering and machine shop teams to implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives. Ultimately, this role ensures seamless integration of production activities, material handling, and resource allocation to support the company’s manufacturing goals in Richmond, KY.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in production control or manufacturing operations management.
  • Proven knowledge of production scheduling, material control, and manufacturing processes including safety and quality control standards
  • Strong computer skills- Proficient in Excel
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Forklift experience


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience working in a machine shop or metal fabrication environment.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production control software.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Prior experience managing production control in a high-volume manufacturing setting.


Responsibilities:


  • Ensure production schedules are met, reviewing daily efficiency reports. If production goals are not met, follow up with appropriate line leader to determine what happened and why.
  • Monitor the MRP to determine what orders are due and plan accordingly
  • Do production schedules and time studies
  • Evaluate personnel daily and move employees to maximize productivity
  • Manage material control processes to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components, minimizing production downtime. Communicate any material issues with Purchasing.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing engineering and machine shop teams to achieve production goals
  • Monitor and analyze production flow and material handling operations to identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
  • Fill in for any line leader who is absent
  • Conduct daily production meetings
  • Assist new team members on correct machine procedures or process to be followed.
  • Prepare and present production performance reports to senior management, highlighting key metrics and improvement opportunities.
  • Responsible for ensuring setup and changeover on production machines are done in a timely manner. Assist in troubleshooting machines as needed.
  • Ensure various daily/weekly check list are completed on time
  • Train line leaders as necessary on processes or machinery
  • Conduct daily walk arounds to ensure team members are being productive and complying with our policies and procedures
  • As Production Control Manager you must become actively involved in production, safety and quality issues to help find and implement solutions.
