Pre-school Teacher- Part Time

CDLC Teacher

Status: Part time - 16 hours: Tuesday and Thursday 8:00am -4:00pm

Who We Are: The Child Development Learning Center (CDLC) located at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church is a nationally accredited, non-profit Christian preschool for children ages 3-5 years old. We are seeking a talented pre-school Teacher to join our team on a part time basis.

Job Summary: The POP Child Development & Learning Center Teacher, leads, oversees and participates in the education, health and safety of pre-school children while upholding CDLC’s mission.

â— Plans, prepares and present lessons, activities and materials for age appropriateness

â— Individualizes curriculum for the need of each child’s interest, strengths and individual learning style

â— Develops classroom procedures

â— Willing to teach a Christian based curriculum

â— Interacts with children through instructional methods to include play, music, arts and crafts, reading, writing, science and physical activities

â— Employs a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children

â— Assists children with completing assigned projects and enhancing learning skills

â— Designs and maintain classroom climate to include visual aids related to curriculum and age/stage of development

â— Monitors talents, special abilities, disabilities, deficiencies or problems of each individual child, documents issues/concerns as needed in a log book and notifies the Director

â— Prepares thorough evaluations for children for conferences

â— Guides children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)

â— Attends in-service training, conferences, staff meetings and parent meetings as required

â— Collaborates with the preschool team and other Prince of Peace staff to plan and execute special events, including but not limited to open houses, parent-teacher conferences, and community outreach initiatives

â— Maintains a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards

â— Supervises indoor and outdoor activities adhering to all health and safety procedures, engages with children in a variety of activities while maintaining clear and consistent routines and expectations

Qualifications:

• The ideal candidate has 1,560 hours of experience as a teacher working in a classroom setting
  
• Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (minimum) or
  
• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education or
  
• Child Development Associate (CDA)
  
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire)
  
• Background check clearance through Minnesota Department of Human Services
  
• Patient, compassionate attitude, with a friendly, energetic disposition
  

· Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods including knowledge of educational techniques

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift a child or children with a total weight of 45 pounds. Conduct activities involving substantial standing, walking, and moderate sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending on a frequent basis.
