Postdoctoral position available to investigate how neuromodulation of neural circuits influencing feeding-related behaviors in the laboratory of Dr. Andrew Lutas. The Lutas lab aims to understand the timescales by which monoamines, hormones, and peptides influence the ability of environmental stimuli to trigger feeding, which can lead to the development of obesity.
----------------------
One research direction of interest to the lab is how neuromodulatory signals influencing feeding behaviors change slowly across days to months. To address this question, this postdoctoral project will use fluorescence lifetime-based biosensors to track these signals in the relevant neural circuits within and across individual animals. This project is fully supported, and the lab is equipped with the hardware and reagents needed to successfully tackle this significant question.

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or the equivalent) in neuroscience, molecular and cell biology, or related fields. Strong candidates will have expertise in fluorescence microscopy, especially fluorescence lifetime imaging, but evidence of ability to acquire these technical skills will also be considered. Experience employing this microscopy in rodent models is preferred but not necessary as this can be learned as part of this postdoctoral training. Prior experience with programming in Matlab, Python, or other languages is preferred, but not required. Ideal candidates will have a track record of scientific curiosity, research excellence, and ability to work well in a collaborative team.
