Physical Therapist
We are seeking a compassionate, highly skilled, and dedicated Physical Therapist to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing quality patient care and helping individuals restore their physical function and improve their overall well-being.
As a Physical Therapist, you will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with physical disabilities or injuries, develop personalized treatment plans, and work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Lafayette Bone and Joint Clinic has been dedicated to providing exceptional patient care since 1975. Our practice is comprised of three orthopedic surgeons, a physiatrist, a neurosurgeon, and a full nursing staff. Our goal is not only to inform and educate patients about their condition and recommend a particular treatment, but also to help them understand what they are experiencing with full clarity.
Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from an accredited program; successful completion of clinical internship. Master’s degree in physical therapy preferred.
Minimum two years of experience as a physical therapist, preferably in a clinical setting.
1. Helps to restore physical function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent permanent disability. Assists in restoring, maintaining, and promoting overall fitness and health.
2. Examine patients’ medical histories. Tests and measures patients’ strength, range of motion, balance and coordination, posture, muscle performance, respiration, and motor function.
3. Determines patients’ ability to be independent and reintegrate into the workplace or community after injury or illness.
4. Develop plans describing a treatment strategy, its purposes, and its anticipated outcome. Plans often include exercise regimens at the clinic and at home to increase flexibility, strength, or endurance. May use electrical stimulation, hot packs, cold compresses, and ultrasound to relieve pain and reduce swelling.
5. Teach patients how to use assistive and adaptive devices such as crutches, prostheses, and wheelchairs.
6. Documents patients’ progress, conducts periodic examinations, and modifies treatments with an emphasis on the identification of areas requiring more/less attention.
