Maui Humane Society is an open-air animal shelter for cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, turtles, and other animals in need of safe shelter. We are the island’s only open-admission animal shelter, providing veterinary and routine care and helping surrendered animals find a new home. We also provide humane law enforcement services, humane education and outreach and low-cost spay and neuter surgeries. To succeed as a Pet Resource & Intake Specialist at Maui Humane Society, a diverse skill set is essential. The role demands multitasking capability and adaptability, allowing quick transitions between various tasks.

A general knowledge of pet behavior and care is vital, as is the ability to handle a variety of animals safely and responsibly. Computer competency is necessary, with experience in Google Drive, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, social media, and internet navigation. Excellent verbal communication skills are a must, along with the ability to follow detailed instructions.

A positive attitude and a commitment to treating animals humanely are crucial. Additional qualifications such as a background in animal welfare or animal behavior experience would greatly enhance success in this rewarding role. Join us in making a real difference!

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
  
• Prior experience in customer service or hospitality field. Demonstrable public relations and customer service skills.
  
• Must be able to multitask, be a quick learner and transition between various tasks as needed.
  

• Must treat animals humanely, with love and concern both on and off the job and transmit these values to others.
  
• General knowledge of pet behavior and care. Ability to work with and handle all kinds of animals in a safe and responsible manner.
  
• Goal oriented, self-starter with ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  
• Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  
• Valid driver�s license.
