Peer Support Specialist - Outreach

We are looking for a Peer Support Specialist to join our team at the Carol Center. The Peer Support Specialist will serve as an advocate and support for clients and their families as well as performing aspects of the Intensive Psychiatric Rehabilitation Service program.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Assist peers and their families in developing an individualized peer support plan using the Wellness Recovery Action Planning principal and techniques
  
• Assist in creating an individualized health and safety plan
  
• Teach and role model the value of the recovery experience
  
• Provide all aspects of IPRS including: Triage, Readiness Assessment, Readiness Development, Goal Choosing, Goal Achieving, and Goal Keeping
  
• Management scheduling of clients including making appointments, communicating changes in in schedules, arriving on time for appointments, etc.
  
• Facilitate client group learning and support activities as assigned in order to meet the needs of the client as well as the client's interest and goals.
  

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• Current/past personal experience as a consumer of mental health services and be at a point in your recovery where you can share your experiences with others
  
• Minimum of one year experience in mental health or internship in a mental health setting.
  
• Must have a good working knowledge of mental health services, community resources and how to access these resources
  
• Ability to work with a diverse population as well as with and in difficult emotional situations is important
