SUMMARY: Retreat 21 is seeking part time bartenders to provide an excellent guest experience at our Taphouse. You will play an integral role in educating guests on our specialty cocktails, local beers and hand crafted ciders and wine. A key aspect of the position is being able to communicate to guests about our space with knowledge of reservable areas and public events. Part time opening weekday shifts required Wednesday- Friday. Weekend availability as needed, Friday/Saturday/Sunday.


Retreat 21 is conveniently located on the edge of Columbus and Dublin, Retreat 21 offers endless adventure on 64 acres of rustic farmland. As a working cidery, we take pride in curating a unique selection of ciders, wine, and seasonal cocktails. We invite the community to enjoy our welcoming atmosphere, take in the landscape, and savor the moment. The event venue is open year round to host weddings, corporate events and social gatherings, and the Taphouse opens seasonally from May to October for visitors to enjoy the open air space.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar. This includes requisitioning and stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, and signage.
  • Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing of all fruit garnishes, juices and other perishables daily to insure product quality.
  • Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner, observes guests to respond to their needs, promotes and documents orders for drinks. Mixes, garnishes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control.
  • Responsible for sanitation in and around the bar area.
  • Possess a wide range of drink recipes and be able to mix drinks accurately, quickly, and without waste.
  • Retrieve and store bar glassware to proper storage.
  • Must be able to effectively card all guests who appear under the age of 30 for alcohol purchases. -Work effectively and efficiently with the event team.
  • Expediently communicate any challenges, guest complaints or requests to the Bar Manager -Adherence to Company alcoholic beverage policies.
  • Adherence to all Company and Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Attend any all-staff meetings.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above. 1-3 years of Bartending experience with a familiarity of events such as weddings preferred.


LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to plan and layout complex events. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before staff members, vendors and guests.


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Must have reliable transportation. Ability to fully comprehend guest requests, memos, reservations, promotional materials, event orders and similar written materials. Ability to move throughout the crowded room of seated guests. Ability to multitask and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the individual is to remain in a stationary position for 10 percent of the time. The individual needs to frequently move about the event space to access supplies, equipment, tools, and other necessary items to complete tasks at hand. Most of the activities involve fine and gross manipulation of items. They must be able to exchange accurate information with other individuals in the event space. They must regularly lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 45 pounds. The individual must be capable of carrying and loading different supplies and tools required to do the job.


WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
