Grade 10 of the ESP Salary Scale ($24.23 - $43.82)


7 Hours/Day 10-Month Work Year; Hours May Vary (M-Th 10:30 - 6:00, F 8:30 - 4:00 with a half-hour duty free lunch)


Role Overview


This position supports before and after school programs as outlined in the Concentration of Poverty Grant. The Extended Learning Program Lead is responsible for implementing this grant-funded program and must adhere to all duties and responsibilities required for grant compliance and student achievement.


Minimum Requirements


High school diploma/GED.


Must meet Highly Qualified status (AA degree, 48 credit hours, or have successfully passed the Paraprofessional Praxis test).


Competency with fundamental reading, writing, arithmetic, and communication skills.


Proficient in a variety of relevant software and electronic communication tools, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database applications.


Ability to work flexible hours, based on need.


Ability to understand and follow directions.


Ability to work harmoniously with children, staff, and community.


Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.


Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.


Preferred Qualifications


Training and experience working with population relevant to the assigned school.


Training and experience applying behavior modification strategies with students.


Knowledge of afterschool programming for identified target population, education background and experience.


High degree of proficiency with Google Workspace, including Google Sheets, Docs, Email and Calendars.


Experience with school-based management software programs. I.e., Synergy.


Ability to multitask, meet small and large goals in a timely manner.


Possess skills required for work that requires attention to detail.


Experience and competence working with students, parents and guardians, school teams and demonstration of leadership skills.


Requires flexibility with daily tasks as the work priorities change based on program needs, reporting requirements, and deadlines.


Training in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI).


Role Responsibilities


Programming


Implements the program to meet the stated academic growth in core subject areas to meet the grant objectives and student achievement.


Coordinates the implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment programs in the after-school classroom and monitors the instructional delivery to targeted students.


Consults and collaborates with the Advisory Committee, Principal, and others to ensure the program goals are being met.


Coordinates and collaborates with community partners to develop and implement programming in areas of high interest for students including arts, STEM, and physical activities/sports.


Develops and implements quarterly family engagement programming.


Evaluates and adjusts class offerings to ensure targeted students’ needs are being achieved. Evaluates student data to target students for program participation.


Reports (verbally and in writing) to the appropriate administrator(s) on progress and future direction for the program.


Maintains records of student’s progress towards accomplishing the steps required through the program’s grant components.


Coordinates recruitment and retention of student’s efforts including marketing of the program through website, newsletters, flyers, etc.


Develops professional development opportunities for staff and community partners.


Staffing


Recruits and monitors staff in the After School Program.


Serves as the staff leader for the program daily.


Ensures daily staffing coverage, including the management of substitutes.


Completes site instructor agreements, observing classes, monitoring work performance, determining workloads, establishing work schedules, conducting performance evaluations, performing training functions, and maintaining records.


Budget


Understands and complies with grant requirements and goals including budget.


Works with Principal and Community School Specialists with budget and program adjustments.


Manages budget by tracking expenditures, completing required paperwork, and managing daily budget management.


In charge of inventory of materials purchased for the extended learning program.


Other essential duties


Participates in professional development activities that are provided by Washington County Public Schools, Maryland State Department of Education, and other professional development organizations.


Works with WCPS staff and school personnel to ensure compliance with policies and procedures are adhered to such as emergency procedures, hiring, use of facilities, student pick-up, permission slips, and other protocols. Facilitates fire drills and creates emergency plans for after school programs.


Coordinates with the appropriate person regarding district resources to support programs including assessment services, custodial, transportation, and food services.


Additional duties as assigned.
