Qualifications:


Required: High school diploma or GED. Must have a minimum of 6 years verifiable experience in the painting and decorating field as primary source of income. Must have a working knowledge of paint materials and stains. Must have working knowledge of tools and equipment as required to perform the specific task. Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolds, and portable stages. Must be physically able to perform the job. Able to lift fifty (50) pounds or more. Able to work in cold and hot temperatures. Must have considerable practical experience in all areas of their responsibility. Must have good planning and organizational skills. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record. Success completion of a background check, physical capacity assessment, and drug screen prior to start date.

Purpose: This person is responsible for the upkeep of buildings of the St. Joseph School District as instructed by the Director of Maintenance and Operations or his appointed representative.
Essential Job Functions:+ Attend work in regular, reliable and punctual manner.

+ Available for after-hour calls.

+ Building painting and decorating, both interior and exterior.

+ Match paint and/or stain colors.

+ Staining and finishing of school furniture and equipment.

+ Replacement of broken window and door glass (glazing.)

+ Makes recommendations for purchase of supplies and materials related to proper building upkeep.

+ Keeps tools and equipment in good operating condition.

+ Keeps tools organized in order to minimize wasted time.

+ Keeps shop and work area clean, and orderly at all times.

+ Maintains appropriate grooming and appearance for work in a school setting as defined in district handbook.

+ Maintains safe working conditions at the assigned job station at all times.

+ Safeguards School District property, buildings, tools and equipment from damage in performing daily assignments.

+ Maintains a positive, cooperative and respectful working relationship with other maintenance staff, school principals, teachers, students, and district supervisors and administrators.

+ Must be available for and respond to emergency call outs.

+ Basic computer skills are necessary for recordkeeping and payroll.

+ Performs other duties as directed by the Director of Maintenance and/or his appointed representative.
