Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthopedic Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting orthopedic surgeons and healthcare providers in delivering exceptional patient care. This position requires a strong understanding of anatomy and physiology, as well as excellent patient service skills. The Orthopedic Technician will work primarily in a hospital setting, providing support in various orthopedic procedures and ensuring the comfort and safety of patients.


Duties


  • Assist orthopedic surgeons during surgical procedures by preparing instruments and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques.
  • Apply and remove casts, splints, and braces as directed by the physician.
  • Provide direct patient care by monitoring vital signs and assisting with mobility.
  • Educate patients on post-operative care, including cast maintenance and rehabilitation exercises.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including coding for procedures performed.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Utilize knowledge of medical terminology to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
  • Support pediatric patients with specialized care techniques tailored to their needs.


Qualifications


  • Strong knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, particularly related to the musculoskeletal system.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to orthopedic practices.
  • Experience in patient service roles, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred.
  • Understanding of coding practices for medical procedures is a plus.
  • Proficiency in aseptic techniques to maintain sterile environments during procedures.
  • Ability to provide compassionate care to patients of all ages, including pediatrics.
