Job Purpose & Position Overview
The certified nursing assistant provides basic personal care, obtains vital sign measurements and promotes quality healthcare delivery for patients admitted to the Inpatient department. In addition, the certified nursing assistant may also assist in screening patients in the Outpatient department dependent on patient care requirements and workload responsibilities.
Provides or assists patients with personal hygiene
Obtains vital sign measurements
Obtains Intake/Output
Use of glucometer to obtain blood glucose
Assists with activities of daily living
Assists with ambulation and/or patient transfers
Collects specimens for laboratory testing
Provides assistance with one to one visual observation of patients at risk for fall or Suicide Ideation
Stock medical supply items
Assists with proper cleaning of medical equipment
Documents patient encounter in Electronic Health Record
Responds to patient requests promptly
Reports abnormal vital signs to Registered Nurse
Recognizes gross change in patient condition and reports to Registered Nurse promptly
Maintains clean work environment
Complies with Infection Control practices
Demonstrates excellent customer service
Performs clerical duties
High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required.
Currently licensed as a Nursing Assistant.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
Possesses the knowledge, skills and ability to observe the patients’ physical and emotional response to care
Ability to communicate ad interact with all members of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team
Normal to heavy work which includes the ability to lift up to 20-50 lbs. Lifting and/or transferring of patients may involve heavy lifting.
Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office or medical equipment.
Manual dexterity with cooperatively free range of motion of all extremities including neck, fingers, hands, wrists, elbows, arms, shoulders, waist, legs, hips, knee joints, ankles, and feet is required.
Fine motor skills required.
Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
Must demonstrate professional verbal and written communications skills.
