As a Metal Building Estimator/Drafter, you will be responsible for preparing detailed project estimates, creating drawings, and providing technical support throughout the bidding and construction process. This role requires a balance of cost analysis, technical knowledge, and CAD drafting skills to deliver accurate, competitive proposals.
- Review project specifications, drawings, and RFQs to develop accurate estimates.
- Prepare take-offs for materials, labor, and equipment related to metal building projects.
- Develop conceptual and detailed cost estimates for bidding and budgeting.
- Create detailed shop and erection drawings using AutoCAD, Tekla, or similar drafting software.
- Coordinate with clients, engineers, and vendors to confirm pricing, materials, and design details.
- Identify value engineering opportunities to improve cost efficiency.
- Maintain organized project files and documentation.
- Experience in estimating and drafting for metal buildings, structural steel, or similar construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of pre-engineered metal building systems, structural steel components, and construction practices.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction software (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Experience with metal building manufacturers� systems (e.g., Nucor, Butler, Varco Pruden).
- Knowledge of AISC codes and standards.
- Background in both fabrication and erection processes.
