Mechanical Designers are responsible for the mechanical engineering assessment, mechanical design concept creation and the mechanical design that is necessary to produce custom creative solutions to customers in a manufacturing and process controls driven environment.
o Generate customer requirement definitions
o Develop design concept with customer constraints and requirements
o Manage Internal design process
o Interface and interact with DSI project stakeholders and Customer project stakeholders
o Concept presentations highlighting competitive advantages and ROI advantages to customers and stakeholders.
o Develop overall machine design concepts for custom designed equipment and systems.
o Own mechanical projects from initial concept through assembly and start up.
o Detailed machine design of custom automated tooling, fixtures, mechanisms, and robotic end of arm tooling.
o Selecting and integrating commercial components, sensors, servos, pneumatic actuators, robot arms, etc.
o Create detailed drawings and coordinate with external machine shops to fabricate machined parts, weldments, and sheet metal components.
o Proficient in performing detailed engineering analysis of custom mechanical components including robotic reach studies and component FEA.
o Create standards and operational procedures for a mechanical design group
o Oversee build process, installation and validation of designed equipment
o Coordinate validation testing following build
o Inspect and ensure build and components made to design specifications.
o Coordinate logistical efforts necessary for integration
o Contribute to developing conceptual design drawings, estimates and proposals
o Generate cost proposals based on conceptual development with cost analysis.
o Identify new features on existing projects that customers may want to purchase
o Identify new projects that might enhance the customer’s operations
