Essential Functions & Responsibilities:Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.Guides the learning process toward achieving curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and similar activities to communicate these objectives to students.Employ instructional methods and materials that are most suitable for achieving the stated objectives.Assess students' accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as needed.Diagnose the learning disabilities of students regularly, seeking the assistance of the district specialist as required.Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly.Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.Responsible for monitoring student safety. Required Qualifications:RIDE Math Certification (5-8 or 7-12)Right to Read Awareness CertificateESL Certification preferred
