Chemours is seeking a

Materials Engineering Technologist to join our Titanium Technologies Ore Technology team at our state-of-the-art research facility, the Chemours Discovery Hub, in Newark, Delaware. The position will report to the Ore Technology Lab Supervisor .

This position will support all businesses at Chemours - Titanium Technology (TT), Thermal Specialized Solutions (TSS) and Advance Performance Materials (APM).

The primary function of this position is to assist researchers, plant personnel, and engineering consultants in conducting failure analyses and corrosion experiments across the entire company. The individual will work closely with the various researcher personnel to design and implement corrosion technology and metallurgical/failure analyses programs, most of which are short-term and often require rapid response to address critical materials problems in manufacturing and developmental processes. This person will also be responsible for maintaining all necessary documentation, manage a safe laboratory, order operating inventories, and facilitate sample shipments. This position offers the opportunity to develop the candidate into a laboratory leadership and mentoring role.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Set-up and safely operate various equipment in both Metallurgical and Corrosion Labs.
  
• Interface with various customers across all businesses and locations, Engineering Technology, and team members to develop, manage, and execute laboratory job plans.
  
• Metallographic preparation of metals, ceramics, and various non-metallics, including photography/microscopy, sectioning, polishing, etching, and imaging to determine root cause failure mechanisms, and accurately and succinctly describing them for customers as well as for input into databases.
  
• Develop and operate corrosion test methods for metals and non-metallics in a wide range of chemical environments and test set-ups, to simulate or identify corrosion failures in new or existing chemical processes.
  
• Communicate findings with customer(s). Documents results or reports in PowerPoint and/or Word documents, and proprietary databases.
  
• Develop, evaluate, and document hazards in each operation, write standard operating procedures, and appropriate safety documentation including defining appropriate personal protective equipment, safety reviews, etc.
  
• Maintain operating inventories, equipment, and manages sample shipments.
  

The following is required for this role:

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering.
  
• 2+ years� experience in Materials, Metallographic and/or Corrosion testing.
  

OR

• AAS Degree in Engineering Technology (Materials Science coursework is a plus).
  
• 4+ years experience in Materials, Metallographic and/or Corrosion testing.
  

OR

• High School Diploma/Equivalent.
  
• 10+ years experience in Materials, Metallographic and/or Corrosion testing.
  

AND

• 1+ year experience working in a high-hazard laboratory involved in mechanical and/or chemical operations (e.g. mechanical testing, metallography, and/or corrosion testing).
  
• Excellent Laboratory skills with demonstrated attention to detail and safe practices.
  
• Proactive, self-motivated, capable of operating independently, and as a collaborative team member.
  
• Ability to lift 50lbs.
  
• Excellent communication and writing skills to keep accurate records of experimental procedures/data, write comprehensive reports, communicate findings, and maintain complete documentation.
  

The following is preferred for this role:

• Strong organizational, multi-tasking and planning skills to manage competing priorities.
  
• Strong interpersonal skills to independently collaborate with all levels of personnel (e.g., crafts personnel, engineering consultants, and operations personnel).
  
• Strong personal computer skills particularly in Microsoft® Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  
• Experienced with the operation of high-temperature furnaces.

$81,715.00 - $127,680.00

Chemours Level:

24

Annual Bonus Target:

6%
