About Us

PM Engineered Solutions is a hands-on, small-team contract manufacturer focused on providing real-world design and manufacturing solutions in sintered metal and plastics. As our long time engineer is retiring, we are seeking someone to carry that deep knowledge forward while bringing fresh perspectives to help modernize and grow our capabilities

About the Role

This is not a narrow or siloed role. You’ll own tooling and fixture design, support quoting efforts with manufacturing insight, and help solve shop-floor problems. You’ll be working closely with leadership, operations, and occasionally customers. We’re looking for someone who applies first-principles engineering, not just familiarity with how things were done before.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design custom tooling, adapters, and fixtures for molding and other production processes (Powder Metal and increasingly plastic)
  • Support quoting and sales efforts by reviewing customer prints, identifying manufacturing challenges, and suggesting improvements
  • Apply engineering fundamentals to identify and solve process inefficiencies or failures
  • Collaborate with press operators and technicians to troubleshoot real-time production issues
  • Document recurring issues and propose standard solutions
  • Communicate clearly with customers and internal stakeholders

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • Delivering a tooling/adapter design with minimal revisions in the first quarter
  • Turning around quoting reviews within 2 business days, including thoughtful DFM feedback
  • Proposing at least 10 cost-saving or manufacturability improvements annually
  • Independently resolving shop-floor issues as they arise
  • Documenting and standardizing at least one recurring production issue each quarter

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Experience designing tooling and or fixtures in a manufacturing environment
  • CAD proficiency, preferably Solidworks
  • Familiarity with job quoting, DFM, or tolerance-based cost tradeoffs
  • Strong problem-solving based on engineering fundamentals
  • Clear communication skills (verbal and written)
  • High initiative and ownership of outcomes

Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Qualifications

  • Experience in powdered metallurgy
  • Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or related degree
  • Exposure to plastics design or tooling (e.g., injection, thermoforming)
  • Background in small-business manufacturing or similar environments
  • Willingness to participate hands-on - including light machining or tool modification as needed

Cultural Fit

  • Youre comfortable jumping into undefined problems and figuring things out
  • You dont expect perfect documentation or corporate resources - you work with what you have
  • Youre persistent, gritty, and find a way forward when others get stuck
  • You take pride in making things that work, not just making things look good on paper

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary
  • Health benefits
  • Opportunity to work on impactful projects with autonomy
  • A culture that values hands-on problem solving, continuous learning, and technical rigor
  • Great People who take pride in their work
  • Third generation family business with a long-term mindset
