PURPOSE
The Service Truck Technicianis responsible for assisting in the operations of the department.An individual in this position will be expected to perform additionaljob-related responsibilities and duties throughout the facility as assigned and/or is necessary.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Perform effective diagnostic routines that identifyroot cause and determinethe bestrepair methodon Class 8 tractors and trailers.
Use diagnostic tools/software (OEM and aftermarket) to resolve fault codes and performance issues.
Conduct DOT-compliant inspections and basic trailer maintenance.
Drive and manage a company-provided service truck, keeping it stocked, clean, and ready for daily field operations.
Communicate clearly with dispatch, drivers, and shop leadership regardingwork performed and additionalneeds.
Follow company safety standards and always use appropriate PPE.
Communicate with individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing.
Maintain and diagnose tire conditions in accordance withwritten procedures and the TMC Radial Tire Conditions Analysis Guide.
Diagnose and make electrical/wiring repairs to tractor-trailer light assemblies.
Perform wheel-endmaintenance and repairs in accordance withOEM specifications (e.g.,wheel seals, bearings, adjustment).
Maintain and repair driveline components (e.g.,u-joints, driveshaft) according to specifications.
Perform diagnostics on the components of tractor engines, drive trains, HVAC systems, and communication systems using technical and electronic equipment according to specifications.
Maintain and repair or replace tractor engine components.
Maintain, repair,and replace communication equipment, such as radios and antennas, and Qualcomm equipment according to specifications.
Complete repair orders, records, logs,and other written or computer-based documents.
QUALIFICATIONS
3 years of experience in a Medium to heavy-dutyvehicle fleet shop or dealership.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND TRAITS
ASE certifications in Medium/Heavy Duty Truck
Experience with Cummins, Detroit, Paccar, and other major truck platforms
Experience with various typesof trailer components (spring ride, air ride, plate wall panel)
Familiarity with diagnostic software (e.g., Cummins Insite, Bendix ACom, WABCO)
Ability to deliver exceptional service through positive engagement and patience.
Experience in Torch and Welder Usage
DOT Brake Inspector certification
Certified in A/C Repair and Recovery
1-year technical school certificate in Heavy Equipment Maintenance or 2 years of experience in a mechanical repair shop
College or Technical school level degree in Heavy Duty Truck/Trailer Maintenance or Diesel Technology preferred.
Knowledge of intermediate Fleet Maintenance operations.
