Outpost Campers is hiring a full-time

Design Engineer to lead technical design for our innovative line of composite truck campers. This is an opportunity to live and work in beautiful Southwest Colorado, where the mountains meet the desert and adventure is just outside your door.

We are a fast-growing manufacturing company building state-of-the-art, lightweight slide-in campers for off-grid exploration. As our

primary design engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing new products, refining our current camper lineup, and collaborating with vendors and suppliers to bring high-quality, precisely engineered products to market.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead technical designer for camper production and component development.
  
• Draft accurate parametric models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
  
• Design individual parts, assemblies, and subcomponents for manufacturing.
  
• Interface with vendors, suppliers, and third-party design partners to ensure accuracy and clarity in all technical communications.
  
• Translate new product ideas into fully realized, production-ready designs quickly and effectively.
  
• Maintain BOMs, drawing standards, and organized CAD documentation.
  
• Support ongoing improvements in manufacturability, performance, and customer experience.
  

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional design engineering experience in a manufacturing or product development setting.
  
• Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks.
  
• Familiarity with other CAD platforms and PLM tools is a plus.
  
• Excellent communication skills, especially in technical conversations with external teams and suppliers.
  
• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
  
• Must be detail-oriented, efficient, and capable of juggling multiple active projects.
  
• Experience in RV, marine, automotive, or composite-based manufacturing is highly desirable.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $65,000 - $80,000/year (Depending on Experience)
