Job Description: IDD Psychologist


The IDD Psychologist helps people who receive services by doing psychological evaluations. This includes using tests to understand their mental health and providing support directly to them. The psychologist also creates treatment goals and service plans that focus on the individual’s needs, offers counseling, trains parents, develops behavior plans, and helps during crises. The usual work hours are Monday to Friday, with some hours after 5 PM. Actual hours may change based on the needs of the people being helped.


As an IDD Psychologist, your responsibilities will include:


  • Explaining evaluation results to individuals and their families.
  • Offering advice to staff about the families they help.
  • Providing counseling services to both individuals and their families.
  • Training staff about the specific needs of the individuals they care for.
  • Collecting and analyzing important information to create reports for guardianship hearings, track current functioning, and determine eligibility for community mental health services.
  • Completing intake assessments for new clients as needed.
  • Writing comprehensive assessments on assigned clients, as well as on others when necessary.
  • Keeping detailed written records as required by the guidelines.
  • Completing 24 hours of specific training each year.
  • Performing similar tasks and duties as assigned.


Requirements:


  • You must have a Master's degree in Psychology from an accredited college or university.
  • You need a valid TLLP or LLP in Psychology from the State of Michigan.
  • At least 8 months of experience working with people who have intellectual or developmental disabilities is required.
  • You should have at least one year of experience evaluating and treating children and their families.
  • You must obtain the Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) and Children�s Mental Health Professional (CMHP) credentials within 120 days of starting the job.
  • A clear MDHHS Central Registry and Police check is necessary.
  • Experience with testing tools like WAIS, WISC, Vineland, ADOS, and ADIR is preferred.

Pay: $62,536.00 - $84,610.00 per year
