The Insurance Officer (IO) is a sales position primarily responsible for selling and servicing all types of crop insurance coverage. This person will build strong relationships with industry contacts, with Farm Credit Mid-America teams in the service territory, and with customers. The IO will use knowledge of insurance and agriculture to provide customers with value added information and customized solutions for their individual needs.
The IO is responsible for compliance with all applicable insurance laws, regulations, and all insurance company policies; and will be responsible for obtaining information needed for the insurance company to underwrite policies according to all appropriate laws and regulations. The IO will work in the interest of providing the best possible crop insurance coverage that benefits both the customer and the Association.

Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business, or related field preferred. Relevant and equivalent job experience may be considered in place of a bachelor’s degree.
1 year experience in crop insurance, sales or financial services. Work-related or education-related ag or agribusiness experience is desired and, in some markets, may be required. Generally competent with routine customers who have basic insurance needs.
Obtaining appropriate licensing required by the resident state to sell crop insurance within 60 days is required.

Vision requirements encompass close and distance vision. The work environment typically has a moderate noise level.
