Minimum Job Requirements:


  • Protective coatings / lining knowledge and related certificates including NACE, SSPC, AMPP Coatings Inspector Program (CIP) Level 2 or Level 3
  • A hands-on, detail-oriented individual who thrives in technical knowledge but is balanced with the practicality of construction execution Proven experience in commercial painting, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a supervisory or foreman role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to perform maintenance, rebuild, troubleshoot Blasting Coating equipment


Job Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the efficient and effective management of all paint department employees and processes.
  • Identify manpower needs and communicate with Senior Management and HR if more or less resources are required.
  • Inform Senior and Project Management of all equipment failures, troubleshoot and provide solutions for repairs.
  • Hold all employees accountable for shop cleanliness.
  • Quality checks must be done periodically throughout the day by the GPF paint QC inspector. Any item not blasted or painted to GPF standards must be called out and corrected.
  • Provide communication to QC for all inspections. Ensure employees are completely filling out all paint travelers prior to calling QC for inspections.
  • Confirm all Paint has correct Mills applied, no holidays showing, all runs sanded and repaired prior to calling for a QC inspection.
  • Projects must remain in the blasting or painting areas until a sign off has been issued by the GPF paint QC inspector.
  • Ensure team members install flange protection on all projects leaving their work areas.
  • Review each employee�s time to ensure they are clocked in and clocked out for each shift. Verify each employee is clocked into the correct job.
  • Order Paint for all jobs.
  • Order all consumables for Paint Department.
  • Mentor, coach and train team. Develop less qualified employees.
  • Identify employees that are untrainable or incapable of meeting deadlines, bid hours or keep GPF quality standards.
  • Report all lost, stolen or damaged equipment with details of incident.
  • Contact Senior Management on any equipment or facility damage.


Daily Reporting Requirements:


  • Attend Managers meeting daily. Provide input on schedule delays, missing material, personal issues and anything else job-related.
  • Fill out whiteboard daily. Job hours, on deck, floor issues all must be listed. Each job must have a clear picture on what is going on. Anyone in our facility should be able to walk up to the whiteboard and easily understand what is going on with a job.
  • Perform a walkthrough every hour to check quality, progress, safety, and wellbeing of employees.
  • Provide strong communication daily to Project Management on project needs. Highlight areas of concern when quality, goals are not met.
  • Hold daily goals meeting with crew, discuss the daily agenda, assign each employee a goal/goals for the day and follow up hourly to ensure goals are being kept. Document all progress and missed goals.
  • Inform Senior Management of daily missed production goals. Give honest feedback of what went wrong, why it went wrong, how we can correct it, and what we can do better next time.
  • Responsible for end of shift walkthrough. All doors shut. All GPF tools put in tool cage. Responsible for any tools signed out and not returned. All welding machines turned off.
  • Workplace injury requiring medical care. Death or risk to life, limb, or eyesight-immediate phone call. All others-email with details of injury to Senior Management, HSE and HR.
  • Must provide input for all KOM meetings. Provide team with concerns and corrections on upcoming jobs.


Weekly Reporting Requirements


  • Send a recap of each week to Senior Management. Include win, fails, and top performers for the week.
  • Do an inspection on all painting equipment. Ensure employees are cleaning them after each use. Make sure everything is in safe working condition.
  • Lead whiteboard meeting twice a week. Meeting must involve entire crew, and capture the employee�s feedback. Each job must be discussed in detail. Hours, completion dates and issues must be discussed as well. This is the time we allow our employees to have voice must be done in a professional atmosphere.
  • Send a weekly log of jobs that have paint procured to them.
