Job Description:

This role assists with employee relations and designs and supports rewards programs.

Examples of Duties:* Assists with investigations (telephonic or on-site) into workplace complaints with interviews of employees, managers, or third-party personnel.

  • Analyze notes to arrive at conclusions, recommendations, and plans of action.
  • Prepares comprehensive reports and summaries of findings.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of new policies and programs for employee relations, affirmative action, sexual harassment, employee complaints and career development/succession planning; monitors effectiveness; provides guidance; and ensures compliance.
  • Assists in prep for employee grievance hearings.
  • Assists the Employee Relations and Organizational Development manager in evaluating, developing, and implementing operating policies and procedural improvements to ensure effective and consistent Human Resources management.
  • Drafts correspondence between department management and employees.
  • Designs and supports rewards programs.
  • Monitors program effectiveness.
  • Manages rewards system.
  • Creates reports and presentations.
  • Designs and supports employee recognition systems.
  • Policy and compliance monitoring for rewards and recognition
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:* Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Valid South Carolina Driver�s License.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel and Word or similar software.


Other Necessary Requirements:* In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.

  • May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
