Human Resources Generalist to join our team! This role provides comprehensive support to program managers across all stages of the employment lifecycle, including general recruiting, new hire onboarding, benefits administration and enrollment, as well as data management, system configuration, and reporting within the HRIS platform. HR Generalist Basic Function


Under the direction of the Director of HR, the Human Resources Generalist provides day to day support to program managers in all aspects of the employee experience, serves as the lead in benefits administration, and is the primary go-to person with respect to the HRIS (UKG) system. The Generalist works closely with the Director of HR on the analysis, development, and oversight of enrollment & renewals for all benefit plans, regulatory compliance and employee education. The HR Generalist is responsible for recruiting, performance appraisals, Workers Compensation and Unemployment.


HR Generalist Principal Accountabilities


  • Responsible for being the primary contact for employee inquiries, including benefits and payroll.
  • Responsible for Workers Compensation program, including entering Workers Comp claims within 3 days of injury, answering questions from our Workers Comp provider, working with managers on bringing employees back to work with accommodations and supplying information for the Workers Comp audit.
  • Responsible for Unemployment process, including responding in a timely fashion to all claims and answering adjudicator questions.
  • Manages the creation, writing and completion of annual compensation letters, and tracks, reviews and maintains annual Performance Reviews.
  • Participates in development and updating of job descriptions and HR policies & procedures.
  • Reviews, processes, and maintains personnel files in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Assists in grading/regrading positions and administration of our compensation strategy.
  • Performs employment verifications, responds to salary surveys and other duties as assigned.


HR Generalist Benefits Administration


  • Responsible for administration, communication, and coordination of the benefits programs, including benefit documentation and packets, oversight of benefit compliance mailings, reconciliation of monthly benefit invoices, and is the main contact with benefit vendors
  • Facilitates Benefits Annual Open Enrollment training and process and proactively educates and communicates to employees about benefit changes.
  • Responsible for leave administration and tracking as well as related pay continuation policies including FMLA, short- and long-term disability. Ensures compliance with related record keeping requirements and the applicable state and federal law(s).
  • Responsible for all benefit compliance reporting ACA, 403(b) discrimination testing, etc.
  • Administer COBRA and offboarding processes.
  • As the main point of contact for all benefit programs, provides accurate and timely guidance to employees with issues, questions, and interpretations of benefit related matters.


HR Generalist Recruitment and employment


  • Develops relationships with department leaders and referral sources to determine open needs and successful placements.
  • Reviews job description with hiring manager to make sure it is up-to-date.
  • Reviews and approves all job requisitions/job postings in UKG.
  • Sources candidates using online resources (Indeed, Handshake, local colleges, etc.).
  • Administers the Sign-On Bonus and Employee Referral programs.
  • Responsible for applicant through new hire process; including sending candidates offer letters, running pre-employment background and DOT screens, answering applicant questions, assigning checklists, making sure all new hire documents are completed and reviewing and approving all new hire HR actions in UKG.


HR Generalist Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)


  • Serves as a go-to person for all things UKG including employee & manager education and support as well as employee maintenance oversight, through approving new hires and status changes; compiling employee reports and maintain online employee filing system.
  • Responsible for researching and fixing issues found in UKG, whether through an UKG Support Ticket, a chat on UKG or a call with our UKG consultant.
  • Oversees the updating, assembly and maintenance of company manuals, training materials and written communications including the Employee Handbook, New Employee Orientation presentation, and the Manager and Employee Onboarding Binders.


HR Generalist Qualifications


  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office products.
  • Familiarity with HRIS; Kronos/UKG a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to build relationships.
  • Highly resourceful team-player with a proactive approach to problem-solving and strong decision-making capabilities.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response.
  • Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to HR.


HR Generalist Education and Experience Requirements


  • Bachelor�s degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) within an HRIS system.
  • A minimum of 3 years� experience in human resources including both concentrated generalist responsibilities, benefits administration and recruiting/employment accountabilities.
