Knowledge of Federal and State regulations and best practices required
CMIP certification preferred
Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the housekeeping and laundry and sanitation programs of this facility.
Assist the Nursing Home Administrator with developing policies and procedures for Environmental Services and review annually.
Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility related information.
Meet with Environmental Services employees on a regular basis.
Attend management meetings, weekly department head meetings, monthly quality meetings, monthly safety meetings, and other meetings as required.
Determine recommended staffing for Environmental Services and recommend to the Nursing Home Administrator.
Monitor and maintain Environmental Services work hours, unscheduled time off and approve time off.
Submit a monthly Environmental Services report to the Nursing Home Administrator by the 10th of each month.
Recruit, interview, and select Environmental Services employees.
Review the performance and verify Environmental Services employee competence on a regular basis.
Counsel and discipline Environmental Services employees in accordance with facility policies.
Perform a daily facility inspection for safety and sanitation.
Establish and maintain par levels for Environmental Services supplies.
Develop and participate in training and orientation for Environmental Services employees.
Promptly report equipment and facility damage to the NHA.
Recommend equipment replacements to the Nursing Home Administrator.
Assume the responsibility of maintaining your professional competence by participating in programs of continuing education.
Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (SDS’s) for hazardous chemical in the Environmental Services.
Ensure that containers of hazardous chemicals in the department are properly labeled and stored.
Implement recommendations from the Infection Control, Safety and QA Committees, etc., as directed/necessary.
Ensure that Environmental Services personnel follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
