Housekeeper


Position Grade 4 (


Purpose: The Hotel Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, orderliness, and a welcoming environment throughout guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. This role ensures that all assigned areas meet the hotel’s high standards of hygiene and presentation to provide guests with a comfortable and pleasant stay. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.


Essential Functions. An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:


  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain guest rooms according to hotel standards, including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning bathrooms.
  • Replenish room supplies such as toiletries, linens, and towels.
  • Clean and maintain public areas, including lobbies, hallways, elevators, and restrooms.
  • Report any maintenance issues or damages to the appropriate department promptly.
  • Follow safety and sanitation policies and procedures at all times.
  • Handle guest requests or complaints related to housekeeping in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Properly handle and dispose of waste and laundry.
  • Use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify supervisors when reordering is necessary.
  • Assist with deep cleaning projects or special cleaning assignments as required.
  • Adhere to hotel policies regarding security, confidentiality, and guest privacy.
  • Work cooperatively with other hotel departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities. A comprehensive set of capabilities required to perform job tasks effectively:


  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment used in hospitality settings
  • Understanding of safety and sanitation standards, including proper handling of chemicals
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to hotel policies and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure high standards of cleanliness and presentation
  • Good physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to complete assigned tasks promptly
  • Good communication skills to interact courteously with guests and team members
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect guest privacy
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays


Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, skills):


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous housekeeping experience preferably in a commerical setting.
