Hotel Accounting Coordinator


Job Description


The Hotel Monroe is open, and we need you! We are looking for a meticulous and dependable Accounting Coordinator to join our leadership team and ensure the accuracy and integrity of all daily hotel revenues and financial transactions. This position plays a key role in the oversight of the accounting process including daily revenues, accounts payable and receivable and payroll.


Situated along the river in a historic Opera house and Hardware store,

The Hotel Monroe and its restaurants have been thoughtfully designed to provide an authentic experience of Monroe. The property provides 68 luxurious guest rooms and suites, Heirloom Restaurant, The STAR Bar rooftop restaurant, and banquet space to accommodate 250-500 people throughout the second and third floor meeting rooms and Opera Ballroom.


Accounting Coordinator Responsibilities and Duties


The ideal candidate will have proven accounting experience in the hotel industry, with the ability to prioritize property needs and work independently to meet necessary deadlines. Below is a sampling of the day-to-day responsibilities:


  • Audit daily revenue reports for accuracy and completeness across for hotel and all F&B outlets
  • Reconcile all income centers, credit card payments, gift cards and cash transactions
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in postings and revenue entries
  • Review and respond to all chargebacks issued in a timely manner
  • Submit daily income reports and assist with month-end close
  • Review, code, and enter vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain organized AP files and vendor records
  • Communicate with vendors regarding billing questions or discrepancies
  • Verify and enter expense reimbursement reports
  • Maintain AR ledgers and guest ledger balances and follow up with Sales and Front Office associates to ensure prompt payments
  • Reconcile event related revenue and payments and address any concerns with Sales in a timely manner
  • Reconcile sales taxes and ensure all tax-exempt revenue is accurate and complete with supporting documentation
  • Verify employee timekeeping system for accuracy
  • Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll in accordance with company policies and legal requirements
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with payroll regulations


Accounting Coordinator Qualifications and Skills


Refined verbal and written communication skills are a must, as well as computer proficiency. Candidates should be extremely detail oriented, organized and be able to handle a fast-paced environment.


  • 2+ years of hotel accounting experience, with hands-on work in income audit, AP, and payroll processing (required). Hilton experience preferred!
  • Familiarity with PMS/POS hotel accounting software (e.g., PEP, Toast, M3, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting
  • High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
  • All associates must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S., pass background screening and references checks.
