Our Tree Improvement Division and Reforestation Center offers qualified candidates an opportunity to become part of a collaborative team that manages professional conifer seed orchards in both Northern California and Southern Oregon. Work alongside professionals at our technologically advanced and innovative Reforestation Center in the beautiful Shasta Valley of Northern California. About the Position

• Assist in managing our state-of-the-art conifer orchard with 5 conifer species on 75 acres
  
• Appropriately apply herbicide and insecticide to effectively control weeds and cone insects
  
• Plan and implement wild cone collection projects
  
• Maintain accurate GIS data and data associated with cone harvest
  
• Perform cultural activities such as mowing, fertilizer application, grafting and pruning
  
• Maintain orchard irrigation systems
  
• Work as part of a team on various nursery activities at the adjacent Conifer Seedling Nursery
  
• Effectively operate four-wheel drive vehicles and farm equipment such as tractors and orchard lifts
  
• Promote a positive, team-oriented, collaborative, and problem-solving focused work environment
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor�s Degree in Forestry, Agriculture, related field, or 2 years related work experience
  
• California Pest Control Advisors (PCA) license with weed pest category, or the ability to obtain, preferred
  
• Familiarity of herbicides commonly used in forestry or orchard applications is preferred
  
• Strong work ethic, integrity, and commitment to long-term projects
  
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and GIS-based software programs
  
• Ability to effectively work both independently and as a contributing member of a team
  
• Current valid driver�s license

The general wage range for this position at Sierra Pacific Industries is from $69,000 to $95,000 per year, and is dependent upon a number of factors, including, but not limited to: relevant work experience, skill, knowledge, and/or education.
