Field Development Representative


Position Summary:


The Field Development Representative is responsible for managing and conducting field research for plant protection products across a variety of crops and providing technical support to sales teams, customers, and key stakeholders. This role combines field science and technical support responsibilities, contributing to the growth and development of new and existing products.

Role Responsibilities:


  • Conduct field research and coordinate trials to evaluate plant protection products using standard research techniques.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including universities, contract research organizations, and farms, to implement and assess research trials.
  • Design and execute replicated trials for various crops, collecting trial data and completing research reports.
  • Act as the lead technical resource for plant protection products, providing expertise to sales teams and customers.
  • Develop and deliver training materials and presentations on products to internal teams and external clients.
  • Assist in regulatory processes, including obtaining special use registrations as required by regulatory authorities.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to identify new product development opportunities.
  • Support sales teams by conducting demonstration trials, attending customer meetings, and offering technical expertise on product features.
  • Assist in handling and resolving product complaints through research and technical analysis.


Education:


  • Required: Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Plant Science, Weed Science, Entomology or Agronomy.
  • Preference for Weed Science background


Experience / Skills / Abilities:


  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in field research or development of plant protection products.
  • Strong experience with plant protection products in mid-west cropping systems-corn, soybeans, cereals, potatoes, dry beans, vegetables, etc.
  • Experience in planning, designing, and implementing field trials.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of presenting detailed scientific information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative in field activities.
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to support sales teams and customers as the lead technical expert in the region.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


Job Expectations / Working Conditions:


  • Travel approximately 50% of the time, within the assigned territory.
  • Work independently to plan and conduct field trials and participate in sales and customer meetings.
  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for extended periods while analyzing data and preparing
