Position Summary:


The Facilities Manager is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, and efficient operation of all buildings, grounds, and physical infrastructure. This position oversees maintenance teams, contractors, and vendors, while ensuring compliance with safety regulations, sustainability goals, and operational standards. The Facilities Manager plays a critical role in space planning, preventative maintenance, project management, and emergency preparedness.


Key Responsibilities:


Facility Maintenance & Operations


  • Oversee daily operations and maintenance of the facility, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, structural elements, and security systems.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment and building systems.
  • Respond to maintenance requests, prioritize repairs, and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Maintain and manage inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Ensure all systems are operating efficiently and within established standards.
  • Implement the removal of old equipment and organize the layout, electrical, water, air, etc., for any new equipment as needed.


Staff Supervision & Vendor Management


  • Lead and supervise maintenance technicians, custodians, and other facility staff.
  • Assign work orders, monitor performance, and provide training as needed.
  • Select, coordinate, and oversee contractors and vendors for specialized services, such as landscaping, snow removal, janitorial, pest control, and repairs.
  • Review and negotiate service agreements and contracts.


Health, Safety & Compliance


  • Ensure facilities meet all OSHA, EPA, local building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Lead regular safety inspections, audits, and drills.
  • Maintain documentation for safety programs, emergency response plans, and inspections.
  • Act as point of contact during facility-related emergencies, including power outages, fire alarms, or weather events.


Project Management & Budgeting


  • Manage facility improvement projects including remodeling, renovations, equipment upgrades, or space optimization.
  • Prepare and manage annual facilities budget, including utilities, repairs, and capital expenditures.
  • Track project progress, timelines, and costs to ensure on-time and on-budget completion.
  • Provide regular updates and recommendations to senior leadership.


Sustainability & Efficiency


  • Monitor and implement strategies to reduce energy usage, waste, and facility-related costs.
  • Evaluate and recommend sustainability initiatives such as LED upgrades, recycling programs, or water conservation improvements.


Qualifications:


  • Education:


Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.


  • Experience:
  • 2+ years of experience in facilities or maintenance management.
  • 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience required.
  • Strong understanding of building systems, maintenance processes, and vendor relations.
  • Experience managing large facilities, manufacturing environments, or multi-site operations is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in Computers
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and security systems.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office
  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team while balancing multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure.


Working Conditions:


  • Primarily on-site role with frequent walking throughout facility grounds.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, odors, and varying temperatures.
  • May require occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing ladders, or working at heights.
  • Availability for on-call response during emergencies or off-hours issues


Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $50,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
