Position Summary:


The Environmental Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations in a high-tech semiconductor manufacturing environment. This role focuses on maintaining environmental program integrity, minimizing environmental impact, and supporting the facility’s commitment to sustainable operations. The specialist plays a critical role in monitoring, auditing, reporting, and improving programs related to air quality, wastewater, hazardous waste, chemical handling, and environmental permitting.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Monitor and maintain compliance with applicable environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, TCEQ, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, TSCA).
  • Conduct environmental inspections and audits for chemical storage, waste accumulation areas, wastewater treatment systems, and emission sources.
  • Maintain and update environmental permits (e.g., Title V air permits, stormwater, wastewater discharge, hazardous waste generator status).
  • Oversee proper labeling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes in accordance with RCRA regulations.
  • Coordinate and support industrial wastewater sampling and reporting; track pH, flow, metals, and other constituents per permit requirements.
  • Track and report greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, VOC usage, and other sustainability metrics.
  • Investigate environmental incidents and spills; support root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Prepare and submit timely reports to regulatory agencies (e.g., Tier II, TRI, NPDES, STEERS).
  • Collaborate with tool install, facilities, and construction teams to evaluate environmental risks in project designs and construction activities.
  • Support emergency response planning, environmental training, and chemical approval processes.
  • Maintain and organize environmental documentation and SDS records.
  • Interface with third-party contractors, auditors, and regulatory inspectors as needed.


Qualifications:


Required:


  • Bachelor�s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Working knowledge of federal and Texas environmental regulations (e.g., TCEQ, EPA).
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.


Preferred:


  • 3+ years of experience in environmental compliance in a manufacturing or semiconductor environment.
  • Experience with semiconductor-specific environmental programs (e.g., fluorinated gases, wastewater from CMP/etch processes).


Working Conditions:


  • Primarily onsite role in a cleanroom or sub-fab manufacturing environment.
  • May involve exposure to confined spaces, elevated platforms, and chemical handling areas.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required as necessary.


Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $74,880.00 - $83,200.00 per year
