Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • This person will plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of Environmental Service to ensure that our community is maintained in a clean, safe and comfortable manner.
  • Coordinate environmental services tasks and duties community wide.
  • Direct and/or perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., by cutting, trimming, policing, sweeping, etc., as necessary.
  • Direct and/or perform routine maintenance and repair on the community and equipment to include plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, floor care, painting, installing artwork, etc., as directed, in accordance with established procedures.
  • Direct and/or perform replacement of burned out light bulbs, to include, exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room call lights, etc., and perform cleaning duties wherever necessary.
  • Direct and/or perform service for heating and cooling units/systems, as specified by the manufacturer, and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Supervise safety and fire prevention programs. Inspect work areas and equipment weekly. Direct and monitor fire drills. Asses response times and make recommendations.
  • Insure that all building systems are in working order and perform or oversee the performance of preventative maintenance.
  • Schedule work hours for staff, assign work duties and cleaning schedules to expedite work.
  • Perform unscheduled maintenance tasks as necessary.
  • Maintain a productive working relationship with other department supervisors and coordinate environmental services to assure that care and services can be performed without interruption.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the community.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by Executive Director.


Requirements:


  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have, as a minimum, three (3) years of experience in a supervisory capacity, in a maintenance/plant related position; preferably in a residential care facility, assisted living, hospital, nursing care facility, or other related health care center.
  • Training in environmental control practices and procedures preferred, but not required.
  • Must be knowledgeable of boilers, compressors, etc., as well as various mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Must be knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations.
  • Must be knowledgeable of environmental practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations and guidelines governing environmental functions in the nursing care community; and willing to seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing practices.
