PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION


The Endoscopy Svc Attendant- Endoscopy Scope Re-processor Tech (ESRT) ensures that appropriate decontamination, reprocessing and maintenance of endoscopy scopes and other related patient care equipment occurs. Active and on-going communication must be maintained within the department and other assigned areas.


JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES


Duty 1: Demonstrates ability to orient and teach staff members in new techniques.


Duty 2: Serves as a resource person in day to day activities providing support in the areas of decontamination and processing of endoscopes.


Duty 3: Demonstrates knowledge in recommended standards in the disinfection, cleaning, processing and sterilization of equipment provided through the department.


Duty 4: Utilizes effective communication with all departments to achieve transfer of information and supplies necessary for continuous patient care.


Duty 5: Promotes a clean, safe working environment through safe transport and disposal of biohazardous items.


Duty 6: Maintains delivery of patient care flow through identification and delivery of supplies and equipment.


Duty 7: Maintains safe and efficient operation of sterilization equipment through utilization of daily testing and verification processes.


Duty 8: Demonstrates understanding of proper body mechanics utilized when working with equipment within the department.


Duty 9: Assures all equipment is functioning properly


Duty 10: Adheres to sterilization process policies and procedures.


Duty 11: Performs other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • BLS certification (within 90 days after date of hire)
  • High attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to be trained on the job.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Certification preferred.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


This position requires a full range of body motion including kneeling and twisting. Must be able to stand at least five (5) hours a day and walk for two (2) hours per day with intermittently sitting, lifting, bending, and climbing. The associate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Associate must be able to use hands to push and pull supplies and operate equipment. This position requires reaching above the shoulders. This position requires corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. Also requires exposure to a hot and cold work environment.


This position is classified “at risk†for possible occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc.)
