Job Description:
The EMT-B/PTN functions on an ambulance performing prehospital emergency responses and interfacility transports normally as the part of a two-person care team. When paired with a Paramedic, the Paramedic would be responsible to direct the care of the patient and delegate as appropriate for the scope of practice. The two-person care team is responsible to assess and apply appropriate medical treatment protocols to care for the patient. The EMT-B directly reports to the Operations Manager which handles non-clinical job performance items. The EMT Basic provides patient care under the authority of the Medical Director and reports to the Clinical Manager for clinical care issues.
POSITION SUMMARY Operates and maintains PTN vehicles in a safe and ready condition. Provides safe, quality care to ill or injured patients in prehospital or intrahospital setting. Provides patient transport and patient care as directed by the paramedic, RN, or specialty team members.
1. Practices within the scope of practice for appropriate state certification under medical
supervision.
2. Demonstrates appropriate assessment skills in following established patient care protocols
and collaborates with other health team members.
3. Practices within their scope of practice as defined by the appropriate State certification and
shall be accountable for their actions.
4. Provide a safe, therapeutic, and efficient patient care environment through collaboration
with other disciplines.
5. Supports and adheres to the State of Ohio, Michigan, ProMedica Health System and
ProMedica Transportation Network policies and procedures.
6. Assist in assessment and treatment of patient care needs in the field or at the transferring
medical facility, and ensures the patient needs are met, reassessed, and treated constantly
until the patient is delivered to designated treatment facility.
7. Maintain PTN vehicles in a constant state of readiness and cleanliness. Document checks of
PTN vehicles and equipment every shift.
8. Performs all other duties as assigned.
