This position may be required to work nights, rotating shifts, weekends and holidays.
Why does the job exist?
This position will provide support and guidance to patients identified, through routine SBIRT screening, as being in need of behavioral, emotional, or physical support. This position will assist with connecting patients to relevant services and entities, as indicated through screening and motivational interviewing. This position will also document services provided, including brief interventions, referrals to MCOs, information provided to patient and document patient consent and refusals as well. During times when direct patient assistance is not required, this position will perform trauma registry duties such as review trauma charts, enter data into the trauma registry, monitor the daily ER log for charts that may be potential trauma charts and collaborate with the nursing secretary to create trauma chart files in the trauma drive.
How does it get done?
This will be done by employing strategies like open-ended questions, affirmations, reflective listening, and summarizing to facilitate conversation and change. This position will communicate directly with the ER Manager in relation to questions or concerns.

Minimum Qualification
Certification as a Certified Medication Aide (CMA), Home Health Aide (HHA), or Certified Nursing Aide (CNA). Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field above certification requirements and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Must successfully complete and pass a background check.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a hospital setting, ability to lift/move a minimum of 50 pounds., long hours of standing, walking, bending, computer and phone use. May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays and shift work.
