Elementary Music Teacher


Rome City School District is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and student-centered General Education Music Teacher to deliver high-quality music instruction to students across a variety of grade levels. The ideal candidate will foster a love and appreciation of music, cultivate creativity, and support students in developing performance skills, music literacy, and cultural awareness. This educator will play a vital role in building a strong and inclusive music program that enriches the academic and cultural life of the school community.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Design and implement standards-based music lessons that engage and inspire students in general music classes.
  • Teach music fundamentals including rhythm, melody, harmony, music theory, and notation.
  • Provide instruction in singing, instrument playing, movement, and listening skills appropriate to grade level.
  • Lead and organize performance opportunities such as concerts, recitals, and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and school staff to integrate music into cross-curricular learning when appropriate.
  • Create a positive classroom environment that supports student growth, creativity, and expression.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Assess and monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of achievement.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Maintain and inventory classroom instruments, equipment, and materials.
  • Participate in school and district professional development and music department initiatives.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor�s Degree in Music Education or related field (Master�s preferred).
  • Valid New York State Certification in Music (K-12).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of music pedagogy and best instructional practices.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Passion for music and teaching children.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administrators.
  • Experience with school performances, ensembles, or music production is a plus.


Salary starting at $52,389.00. Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
