Job Description: Infant and Mobile Room Teacher


GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB

Be responsible for a class of children. Perform activities that ensure the health, safety and progress by meeting their social, emotional, intellectual and physical needs. Reports to Head Teacher and Director.


SPECIFIC DUTIES OF THE JOB


  • Takes care of children�s daily physical needs, including diapering, hand washing and feeding
  • Meets the emotional needs of each child- talks with, smiles at and loves each child
  • Satisfies the developmental needs of each child- reads to, plays with and entertains
  • Plans and executes activities for children
  • Special Activity Concentration: o Large Group Motor Skills: rolling over, crawling, jumping, running, ball play, bubbles, bean bags, tunnels, etc o Language Skills: Forming words, recognizing objects and sounds, counting, color recognition, saying words and songs, etc o Sensory Skills: touching textures, smelling, tasting o Fine Motor Skills: puzzles, stacking, nesting, lacing, pegboards, etc
  • Prepares room for arrivals and departures
  • Greets each parent on arrivals and departures
  • Keeps communication open with families, reporting their day verbally and with written daily reports
  • Completes daily reports
  • Gives children undivided attention, watching carefully for safety hazards
  • Cleans and organizes room daily
  • Participate in supervising free play and outdoor play
  • Supervise and assist during meal times
  • Adhere to the daily schedule
  • Assist head teachers with curriculum and goal planning
  • Attend and participate in team meetings
  • Willfully perform housekeeping and kitchen duties daily, weekly and monthly
  • Perform emergency duties when they arise
  • Completes Incident reports when accidents occur
  • Follows all State of Nebraska regulations at all times
  • Participate in fire and tornado drills
  • Be able to perform all of the duties of the job with no day-to-day supervision
  • Participate in parent conferences and child assessment
  • Flexibility with hours and work schedule
  • Completes USDA paperwork daily
  • Participate in childcare conferences and obtain 24 child education units annually
  • Ability to know what the other children are doing, while working with an individual child
  • Work as a team member

  • Have near and far vision correctable and depth perception
  • Be able to hear all types of sounds
  • Be able to read stories to the children
  • Be perceptive and aware of all children in your care
  • Be able to communicate properly and effectively with parents
  • Knowledge of Nebraska State Regulations
  • Knowledge of Parent Handbook and Center policies
  • Ability to foresee problems and redirect children before incident occurs
  • Ability to fulfill parents requests
  • Ability to problem solve and come up with ideas and suggestions for a solution
  • Be able to work in all types of environments, including inside and outside, office, classroom, kitchen, cold temperatures outside, steps and stairs, slippery or uneven working surfaces, working around moving objects, Irregular working hours, noise tolerance


QUALIFICATIONS


  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a Child Developments Associates or working towards it
  • Meet the qualifications of one of the following o High school diploma and 30 credit hours in education o High school diploma and at least 2 years experience o High school diploma, GED, and 2 years experience with children o CPR and First-Aid certification
