JOB SUMMARY::


The Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) provides direct counseling services to individuals dealing with substance use disorders. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, facilitating individual and group therapy sessions, and developing personalized treatment plans in coordination with the care team. CADCs offer education on coping strategies and relapse prevention, supporting clients in achieving and maintaining recovery through structured therapeutic interventions and ongoing behavioral support. With a strong understanding of the psychological and physiological aspects of addiction, the counselor creates a supportive, goal-oriented environment that promotes long-term sobriety and personal growth.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Conduct screening, assessments, and support for residents with alcohol or drug use histories
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to report on resident progress, concerns, and treatment goals.
  • Support resident participation in recovery related activities and assist in connecting them to community support.
  • Develop and review treatment goals with residents.
  • Assist with admissions, orientation, and education for residents and families as needed.
  • Assist in developing skills and behaviors necessary to help residents recover from their addiction or modify their behavior.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
  • Educate staff on recognizing signs of relapse or behavioral concerns in older adults
  • Document all resident interactions in compliance with facility policy and confidentiality standards
  • Respond appropriately and professionally to client crises, using de-escalation techniques and referring to outside support if necessary.
  • Serve as a consistent, supportive presence and role model for recovery.
  • Coordinate care with outside providers.
  • Contribute to creating safe, inclusive and recovery focused environment.
  • Other duties as assigned


REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor�s degree in a behavioral science field preferred.
  • 300 hours of Alcohol and Drug training + 200 hours of supervised training.
  • Passed the IC RC ADC exam.
  • Experience working in long-term care/assisted living preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion and professionalism.
