This is an in-person position.


As a member of our drafting team there are exciting opportunities to learn about time-proven construction practices and help customers plan out and assemble cabins, cottages, and sheds. There is exciting creative work involved. Data entry is also a large portion of the job. Applicants should not be averse to working extensively in spreadsheets and tables and using ERP software (Enterprise resource planning). Attention to detail is crucial to creating accurate material lists for our designs and kits.


Prerequisites:


  • Confident computer skills / MS office / working knowledge of MS Excel and willingness to learn


  • Experience 3D modeling and using 3D software is a major plus (Sketchup, CAD)


  • Experience or willingness to learn Adobe creative suite (InDesign)


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills- being able to clearly communicate instructions in writing and over the phone


  • Strong listening and analytical skills


  • Work with minimal supervision, manage time and tasks independently but also can collaborate as a team member


  • Construction knowledge is a plus- ability to learn and retain construction practices


  • Time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment


  • Strong attention to detail and ability to evaluate data and identify inaccuracies. I.e. Quality control.


Responsibilities:


New hires in the drafting department will be trained and taught the following responsibilities. It is not an expectation to be able to accomplish these responsibilities independently on Day 1. New employees will shadow our drafting team and be trained in all our practices. Having been trained, it will be your responsibility to:


  • Develop a thorough knowledge of our product line and construction practices to be able to assist customers assembling our pre-cut-kits


  • Be able to evaluate problems with kits and assist customers in finding solutions


  • Logging details about interactions with customers for posterity to keep track of issues and details about a client�s project


  • Assist sales team in providing technical information about our products to customers and sales leads


  • Planning and preparing complex material lists for different cabins, sheds, and other building designs


  • Creating customized floorplans for custom client projects


  • Creating assembly plans (Adobe InDesign) for fully assembled buildings


  • Creating and updating assembly plans (Adobe InDesign) for pre-cut-kits to be assembled by customers


  • Updating, correcting, and developing 3D models for our products (Sketchup)


  • Managing and tracking orders and tasks in SAP, a product management system; updating product information


  • Critical thinking, problem solving, and positive customer service interaction
