Under the supervision of the Director and in conjunction with the Assistant Directors, this position oversees the work of all Departments within the Division of Public Works. Duties will include attending and speaking at City meetings during the day and evening, project management and organizing work for scheduling of tasks, supervises work and performance of such, keeps the Director informed on work accomplished and completed, ensures work is performed in a safe manner and follows good work practices and environmental regulations, works closely with bargaining units and participates in negotiations. This position will manage snow operations with the Assistant Director and Superintendent of Streets which may entail 24-hour shifts. Performs other duties as assigned and is on call 24/7 for emergencies and winter operations. This is a full-time Unaffiliated position, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, and provides an excellent work life balance. The position is grade 18, with a salary dependent upon experience.
+ Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field and minimum 8 years of related experience; experience will be considered in lieu of education
+ Duties require knowledge of Public Works operations, proven track record in snow operations and experience working in a minimum of two Departments within Public Works
+ Proficiency in needed Microsoft Office products and ability to learn and use other business software
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills
+ Public speaking ability required
+ Experience with bargaining units particularly negotiating contracts a plus
+ Ability to obtain the Road Scholar Level from the NH Technical Training Center and other required trainings
+ Knowledge of safe work zones in compliance with Dig Safe
+ Proven leadership experience required
+ Knowledge of applicable city and state laws and regulations governing the City’s activities
+ Must possess a valid driver’s license
