We're seeking a passionate Disabilities Interventionist to join our Head Start team, ensuring children with special needs receive the support and services they deserve. You'll work collaboratively with teachers, families, and community partners to create inclusive learning environments where every child can thrive.


What You'll Do:


Program Leadership:


  • Ensure our program meets the 10% disability mandate and exceeds Head Start Performance Standards
  • Develop and implement individualized intervention plans for children with disabilities
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create IEPs/IFSPs
  • Coordinate recruitment, enrollment, and service provision for children with special needs


Direct Support & Coaching:


  • Provide instructional coaching and professional development to teaching staff
  • Assist teachers in adapting lesson plans for children with disabilities
  • Offer observations and guidance for staff working with special needs children
  • Coordinate special equipment and therapeutic materials


Family & Community Engagement:


  • Host support groups for families with children with disabilities
  • Consult regularly with parents and staff on individual children's needs
  • Serve as community liaison and advocate for children with special needs
  • Provide training and resources to staff and families


Data & Compliance:


  • Maintain accurate records and data submission in management systems
  • Ensure compliance with IDEA, Head Start Standards, and state licensing requirements
  • Participate in suspension/expulsion discussions and develop action plans


What We're Looking For:


Education & Experience:


  • Master's Degree in Special Education or related field (preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience working with children (birth-5) with special needs and their families


Essential Skills:


  • Strong knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and licensing requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team environments
  • Intermediate computer skills (Windows, databases, various software programs)
  • Experience working in high-risk, low-income communities
  • Commitment to reflective supervision and professional growth
