Direct Support Professional

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing support and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for clients by promoting independence, dignity, and respect. The DSP will work closely with individuals to help them achieve their personal goals while ensuring their safety and well-being.

• Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
  
• Monitor and document client progress and any changes in behavior or health status.
  
• Support clients in social interactions and community engagement to foster independence.
  
• Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client�s needs and preferences.
  
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, adhering to health and safety standards.
  
• Provide first aid as necessary and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding client confidentiality.
  
• Advocate for resident rights and assist in navigating resources available to clients.
  
• Engage in heavy lifting when required to assist clients with mobility or transfers.
  

• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
  
• Knowledge of resident rights and advocacy principles.
  
• Familiarity with first aid procedures and patient monitoring techniques.
  
• Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed for client support.
  
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  
• Strong communication skills, empathy, and a compassionate approach to caregiving are essential.

• Valid drivers license and vehicle insurance
