Direct Support Professional (DSP) Newport News

Heavenly Hands, Inc. is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide services to an individual with an Intellectual Disability. The individual resides with his parents in Newport News located in Sherwood Place. The DSP will need to have reliable transportation to take the individual out in the community.

Monday 8:45-4:15, Weds thru Sat 8;45-415 pm

The payrate for this particular case ranges from $16.00 - $18.00/hr. This range is based on prior experience.

• Assist and train individuals in a home setting to enable the individual to maintain health status, develop and maintain skills with Activities of Daily Living (ADL�s) in home environment. Empower and support the individual in developing their own lifestyle.
  
• Assist in functional skills related to personal care (Toileting, bathing, grooming, dressing, eating, etc.), if needed.
  
• Monitor health and physical condition and assistance with medication and/or medical needs.
  
• Ensures all services are documented as required by agency procedures and regulatory standards.
  
• Reads and follows the Individualized Service Plan (ISP) for individuals.
  
• Completes and submits required daily support notes for the individual according to established agency guidelines.
  
• Demonstrates understanding of Human Rights Rules and Regulations and upholds the Human Rights Plan.
  
• Ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach and lift items when at least 50 pounds.
  
• Subject to random drug/alcohol testing throughout employment.
  
• Detailed Documentation required
  
• Performs other duties, as directed.
  

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
  
• Must consent and pass criminal records check, including a fingerprint check.
  
• Valid driver's license required with acceptable driving record.
  
• Must complete a TB Screening.
  

• High School or GED Diploma preferred.
  
• One year work experience working with the Intellectually/Developmentally Disabled population preferred but will train.
  
• CPR/First Aid training that was done in person, not online.
