General Summary of the Position


This position is a 24-36 Month Assignment with Benefits and Potential to be a Permanent Position


Reporting to Advancement Committee Chair, the Development Officer will manage the process of identifying, cultivating, and soliciting gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations. to support the construction and long-term sustainability of Mother Teresa Catholic School (MTCS). In addition, this strategic leadership role includes managing a capital campaign and building community engagement in alignment with our Catholic mission.


The Development Director will also work with the Senior Director of Development of the Diocese, on a dotted line basis, to ensure proper Diocesan protocols and processes are met to manage the MTCS Development initiatives.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position


Fundraising Strategy & Execution


  • Develop and manage a comprehensive fundraising plan, with clear goals and performance metrics


  • Lead all aspects of the capital campaign and major gift initiatives


  • Analyze and report on donor engagement and fundraising progress


Donor Relations & Stewardship


  • Understand the needs and interests of prospective donors in order to cultivate and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors, including parish, school and community leaders


  • Development of strong solicitation strategies


  • Design and implement donor stewardship and recognition programs


Marketing & Community Engagement


  • Oversee donor communications and development-related content


  • Collaborate on print, digital, and social media strategies that support advancement goals


Ministerial Responsibilities


  • Organize mission-aligned fundraising and cultivation events


  • Increase visibility of the school�s mission and vision within the Catholic and North Texas communities


Position Requirements


Required:


  • Bachelor�s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, or related field


  • Minimum 5 years of successful development or fundraising experience, in a Catholic school or parish


  • Proven success with capital campaigns, major gifts, and donor retention


  • Proficiency in donor management systems (e.g., Raiser�s Edge, DonorPerfect)


  • Overall Excellent computer skills (Excel, MSWord, Power Point, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, etc.


  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills


  • Experience working with boards, committees, and volunteers


  • Must be comfortable speaking in public and demonstrate strong presence


  • Knowledge of strengths and struggles of Catholic Schools


  • A knowledge of how to best utilize maximize and analyze prospect research


  • Must be able to communicate effectively with school personnel, prospective families, media outlets, etc.


  • Practicing Catholic with a strong understanding of the faith and Catholic education


  • Other duties as assigned


Preferred:


  • Master�s degree in a related field


  • Experience leading a campaign as a sole development staff member


  • Background in marketing and event planning


  • Grant writing experience preferred


Physical Requirements Specific to the Job:


  • Employee must be able to navigate stairs and walk medium distances
